A PM Who is More of A Foreign Minister

Soon Narendra Modi’s led BJP government will complete it’s one year of governance in India, and what would be the most prominent achievement of this one year will be Modi’s astounding foreign trips.

Infact in approx 12 months (less than 1 year to be precise), he has toured almost 15 foreign nations.

What a return? 15 in 12.

This is a very big achievement considering that Modi is that political figure who was denied visa by USA, before he became Indian Prime Minister. As a Chief Minister (CM) of Gujarat, he was not allowed to visit USA maybe this is the reason that he is going everywhere he can before his Prime Ministerial term is over. Going by 15 trips in less than 12 months, I am quite certain that he will achieve his target of completing his world tour much sooner than anyone else can imagine.

Here is a list of countries that he has visited after becoming PM of India – Australia, Bhutan, Brazil, Canada, France, Fiji, Germany, Japan, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United States

Infact he has visited neighboring country Nepal twice.

He has nearly 8 more trips planned ahead in this year, which includes a trip to China and Russia.

It should not be a big deal, infact a matter of pride as he is putting forward image of a progressive and investment friendly India, on foreign soil. He has for sure attracted a lot of investors interest towards India. His road shows type rallies/show, like the one on Madison square garden, are super-hit with lots of cheerful crowd and media presence. He looks like a superstar, he speaks like a star, his reputation is projected as of a rockstar. He is rocking all the nations he has visited.

But, is India progressing in the same speed as Modi? Maybe, but there is lack of evidence in progression of India as there are hardly any concrete big decisions are taken by the newly formed government of India to showcase it’s one year achievement.

So, what is Modi doing other than going on foreign trips?

To know this, we have to wait for 26th May, 2015, when his government will complete one year and maybe then, they will prepare a list of achievements to broadcast over the Indian Media.

'God's Not Dead', and 'The Quiet Ones'
Watched two movies this last week and both of them turns out – bogus. Well, one more than the other.

So, without much ado lets delve into both the stories.

First I will talk about ‘God’s Not Dead‘, which was more of a headache than I could ever imagine.

'God's Not Dead', and 'The Quiet Ones'

‘God’s Not Dead’, is directed by Harold Cronk and stars Kevin Sorbo, Shane Harper and Dean Cain in lead roles. I was rather intrigued by the title of movie and this was the only reason that took a blind leap of faith to watch it, but it turned out to be a totally different kind of faith promotion. It’s a christian drama film which is made so poorly and in a preachy way to promote Christianity that after watching it, I felt relieved that I am not christian.

As I said, it is preachy; but not only that, its underlying agenda is like to force you towards Christianity. Theme of movie is, if you are Christian than you must be very kind and helpful, in total a good human being; but on the other hand, if you believe in any other kind of God, then you are devilish. You must be cruel and woman abuser or merciless. Well, message is something else, but if you rate this movie based on just its execution then also it’s a failure. All the scenes are artificial and novice, specially the climax of the movie with death of professor. Save us Jesus from these preachy movies.

 

Time to move on. Let’s talk about our second film – ‘The Quiet ones’.

I love horror movies. They offer something different and make you react. This one is good too but in parts.

It’s whole idea of treating a troubled girl by a professor is indeed cool and refreshing. It shows what was the perception of people towards such supernatural events and personalities. Story proceeds with the help of a cameraman who is recording all these activities and treatment experiment to help professor receive Nobel prize. In the process, he falls for the troubled girl and uncover a dark secret about her, which torments belief of professor and his whole experiment.

This movie has it’s fair share of chills but its shabby camera work, which is deliberate, is kind of distracting. It looks like that movie could have gone in so many direction but in the end, story take some unexplained and illogical turn. You don’t understand the reasons, as if whole motive is changed somewhere.

“The Quiet Ones’, is directed by John Pogue and stars Jared Harris is lead role of professor. Movie is based loosely on a real life event/experiment.

Not great but fun to watch just for the sake of some horror chills.

Mouthwatering Monday – Pav Bhaji

I love spicy food specially street food, like aaloo tikki, golgappa and Pav Bhaji. Yummy!! Today I am going to share Pav Bhaji recipe which is so simple to make that after making it for the first time, I was so disappointed with myself that why I didn’t tried it earlier 😛

Here is the recipe.

Ingredients –

  • 6 Pavs
  • 2 cups mixed Boiled Vegetables like Potato, Cauliflower, Peas, carrots, beans (you can add or remove any vegetable per your preference, like I didn’t used carrots as they taste sweet)
  • 3-4 Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • ½ tbsp Red chilli powder
  • ½ tbsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tbsp Garam Masala
  • 1-2 tbsp Pav Bhaji Masala(Mix spices)
  • ½ tbsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1-2 green chilli for garnishing
  • Cilantro for garnishing
  • Salt as per taste

Method –

  • Heat butter in a pan and add mustard seeds.
  • Add Garlic cloves and Onions till they become translucent.
  • Mix Ginger Garlic paste and cook.
  • Add tomatoes and salt. Cook on medium heat until the mixture becomes mushy.
  • Add spices, chilli powder, turmeric, garam masala, pav bhaji masala.
  • Cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes and then add boiled mixed vegetables.
  • Add water as per required consistency and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes.
  • Mash it properly while cooking.
  • You can garnish it with Cilantro, green chillies or butter. 
  • Serve it with Pav, separately fried on a pan with butter.

 

That’s it. 🙂

Simple and sweet. If health conscious avoid butter and use less potatoes in gravy.

I have served it with sweet mango chutney and onions.
