Silent Sunday – City Of St. Louis

Do you know that Ballet started almost 500 years ago, in Italy?
Do you know that on average ballerinas wear out 2-3 pairs of pointe shoes per week?
Do you know that a male ballet dancer can lift over 1 & a half tonnes worth of ballerinas? That’s the same as picking up a Hippo! 🙄
Do you know that a three-hour ballet performance is roughly equivalent to running 18 miles?

I am now feeling sorry for myself…. Why didn’t I learned ballet dancing?? Is it too late now? 😦
Rakhi (Rakshabandan), just went by, and this time I decided to make Rakhis by myself. Time to use your hobby, right??

Do you know that traditionally only a Kalawa (thread/dora) was used as a Rakhi?
Do you know that Rakhis comes now in various designs like toys, stones, cartoons, musical and bracelet form?
Do you know that Punjab is famous for it’s Resham Rakhis, while Mysore for Sandalwood Rakhis?
Do you know that Pavitropana a festival symbolic to Rakhi, is celebrated in Gujrat, where people, tie threads of cotton to shiva-linga?
I will leave you with some pics of Rakhi celebrations by my kids. Enjoy!!!

Most of the Life’s good things comes as a surprise.
It’s surprisingly true when it comes to experience that we encounter now and then, as most of them happen to be unplanned.

This time we stumbled on the opportunity to watch a baseball game. What is so special about this game?
Well, this game is played only once a year. Cool Right??? 😎

We were coming back from Colombia, MO; when we happen to witness a baseball match, going on in nearby field (along highway). As enthusiastic my husband is towards sports, he took the nearest exit and there we were, in that field.

It was a match played and organized by a community, and all the players and audience have gathered there from different places. Some came from Ohio, some Memphis, mid Missouri and all the places within the distance of 5 hour drive.

It was a marathon baseball match which was played between 9 teams. It started in morning and lasted till late evening. They played whole day and their well wisher and cheering squad motivated all the teams, from morning till the end.

Most amazing thing about that match was, that it was played for a charity. All the earnings from that match was donated for a cause to New Horizons Ministries.

It was a great match for a great cause. Kids enjoyed it and me too, as I met some beautiful friends there. All the girls there, were so nice and friendly, I love spending time with them.

At the end of the day, I was content to spend my weekend, watching a good game of baseball, and making some new friends.

Me Happy. 🙂
