Do you Fear Your God?

Do you Fear Your God?

We do so many little things daily without even thinking. These habits become a part of our daily routine. Brushing our teeth, eating breakfast, taking breath. Everything is a routine.

Is praying to God is also a part of your routine, or do you pray when you feel like it(not necessarily a predefined time) ?

I have enforced some habits into my kids. One is to take blessing of Parents and God. But, it is easier to see your parents, and know how important they are in your life; like they give you food; they wash your clothes; they take you out for fun activities and buy you toys; but what about God?

They are not seeing God. They don’t know exactly what and who is, God. Well, this part is what most of us also struggle with.

My kids they are in a habit of taking our blessings daily, morning and night. But, for God, I have to answer a lot of questions first to convince them. It’s pretty hard. Like, when I told them that God is everywhere and he/she is watching us and will protect us always. Otu, my son, questioned me, “but bathroom has no windows, so how will God see me when I am in bathroom. How will he save me there?”

We do tell them stories of Raam, Krishna, Jesus, Hanumaan, Durga, and basically any story we can tell them. So, they do know who Raam is, just they don’t know why they should pray to Raam.

And no, it is not a concern to me. They have their whole life to figure out a God of their own, in whom they will believe.

Meanwhile I did a mistake one day. I played an animated movie for them – Ramayana, story of Raam.

There were Lord Raam, killing all the monsters with big horns over their head, teeth dipped in blood hanging out of their mouths, laughing hysterically with their humongous bodies.

Raam was killing all such monsters/demons easily and helping all the sages. He was saving monkeys of his army. He was killing a 10 headed Ravana with ease; and Hanumaan, when he prayed to Raam, he got all the powers to fly over the ocean.

What my kids deciphered from all this was that you should pray to Lord Raam, if you want to have powers and stay safe from deadly monsters.

Next day all of them were praying by themselves.

But, this was not what I wanted. I would never want them to pray to God, in fear. Maybe one day they will not.

This made me question, isn’t all of us are a part of this fear propaganda – called Religion.

What has religion taught us? More precisely what these representatives of Temples, Mosque and Churches have forced into us?

If you research history of Bible, you will find that church officials have edited the bible so much to erase the kind face of God. Instead God is one who will bring wrath to you, the moment you commit a sin. He will only save you if you are committed to him. God is masculine. God is he, not she. ‘She’ can be weak. But, a ‘He’ is so strong. So, they kind of committed to mention that God has a wife. In fact basic nature of changes that have taken place in bible are to make sure that people fear God and come to church regularly out of fear.

Same is with representation of Jihad by Islāmic extremist. I saw in TV an extremist of Islam saying t his followers, to rape women of other religion, as this will make their God happy. If you kill people of other religion, you will get some 30 or 40 virgins in heaven. Above all you are not a true muslim if you do not believe in such ideology. Your God will abandon you if you indulge in music, or support woman education, or help someone of other religion. This fear of your Lord abandoning you. Fear that you may be cast as not true muslim. Fear of going against your religion.

If you think that Hinduism is free of this fear, just take a look at the line of a Shani temple, every saturday. Look at the lemons and chillies hanging on every shops. Look at your women fasting whole day without food and water, fearing if they will not do so, their God may become angry and take life of their husband or son (sadly daughters are not this important) as a punishment. We do ‘Pind-Daan’, we do ‘Shraadh‘, we perform so many rituals after someone is dead, so that the dead’s won’t get angry and stay happy wherever they are. You didn’t perform one ritual the way it was supposed to, now something bad will happen to you. Even Raam said at one point – “Bhay bin hoye na preet”, i.e. Love cannot exist without fear.

Do you Fear Your God?

We are always trying to please God.

If we want a job, we should first please God, by donating some money to his representative. We want to get married, lets fast for 16 Mondays. You want to be a suicide bomber, first pray to God to make you successful in this holy deed, and also reserve you a god spot in heaven.

You did something bad, for sure you are going in hell. You will burn in hell for eternity.

You had sex before marriage, for sure you are going in hell. By the way have you seen the view of hell. Just do one good thing today and search google for what Hell looks like as per each religion.

I may never know the answer to whether Fear of God is necessary or not, but for me my God is to me, like I am to my kids. I would never want my kids to fear me. I would want them to love me, unconditionally. I would want them not to please me but to understand me. I would want them to believe in me and trust me. To believe that no matter what; no matter whatever worst thing they do in their life, I will always be there with them, to show them the correct path and to protect them.

My God is like me, a Parent.

Going Cukoo Over Aliens

Has it ever happened to you that when you start watching a TV series on Netflix, you begin to see its theme relate to your daily life; more you watch more you relate.

Like when you a crime investigative series you start to notice every crime happening in the world. You watch Dexter, and suddenly every bespectacled person seems like a potential Dexter. (not everyone, just trying to come up with a better example)

I remember the time I was watching House‘, I somehow convinced myself that, more rude a doctor is to his patient; more genius he is in his field. 😛

Or, when I watched Medium‘, I started feeling presence of every dead relative of mine. 😦

Now, don’t even ask me, what happened when I watched all three seasons of ‘American Horror Story‘.

Now, that the context is set, let me come back to the right topic, I want to discuss today – Aliens.

Going Cukoo Over Aliens
Going Cukoo Over Aliens

I watched ‘Ancient Aliens‘, and it did raised so many questions in my mind.

First of all, how we discourage someone from seeing something as extraordinary as a UFO.

So many people report seeing UFOs, but we label each one of them, as crazy or under the influence of drugs. We call their experiences hallucinations. It could be that all those people hallucinated about UFOs, but who has given us the right to call them attention seekers or liars.

What if they are telling the truth?

Now, when even our scientists believe that taken the vastness of this universe, galaxies and innumerable Stars; it is quite possible that we are not alone. Why do we still think, that we are only intelligent race existing in the universe.

Going Cukoo Over Aliens

Why are we not asking questions?

Why are we so worried that we will be labeled as silly or crazy?

Why block our mind to a possibility that can exist?

Why stop asking, what if we are not alone?

It’s a lot to digest and a lot to believe, but if we can believe in miracles and our more than miraculous mythological characters, then why not Aliens?

It’s an irony, that we can believe in a religious God, but we do not trust technologically advanced Aliens.

Going Cukoo Over Aliens

I do not believe everything that this documentary stated but I do believed in one thing that after watching this series, it was easier for me to believe in God and miracles; as I can now see the science behind them.

Watch this space, as there is more to come from this crazy mind…..

Frolic Friday – My Hubby is not going to fight for me.

When you fall in Love with your Prince Charming, the love of your life; you have a vision of how he will turn out to be. Like you expect that he will take care of you for the rest of life; he will not let anyone else come between both of you; he will not give up on you, ever; he will not allow any one else to put claim on you, on your love….. etc, etc.

I was hoping the same…. alas. 😦

My heart broke few days back, when another fellow came between us. He literally dragged me by my hand and took me away from my husband; and my strong built husband didn’t even said a single word. He just let me go, so easily. 😥

My Hubby is not going to fight for me.

It so happened, that one fine day I was watching a romantic movie with my hubby, sitting on our couch, sipping tea and laughing at the silly jokes in the movie. It was like one of those life’s small happy moments. I was cherishing all this, when suddenly my youngest, three-year old son, Renne, came to us.

‘MAMMA’, he said, literally shouting, ‘don’t sit here‘.

I asked, ‘why’?

He replied with irritable tone now, ‘Don’t sit with Papa. Come to my side‘, pointing towards our loveseat couch.

I was not surprised, Renne has always been a mamma boy. If would have been a kangaroo, he would have never come out of my pouch.

I said to him, ‘ sweetie, I am sitting with Papa here. You sit on your couch. I will come later‘.

‘No’, he replied. This time he was sort of angry, not only on me but on his Papa too. I sensed it from the way, he looked at him. ‘Come to my side. Don’t sit with Papa‘.

He was blatant about it.

But I want to sit with Papa. I love him too‘, I said.

No, you love only me‘, he replied.

By this time, I was looking for some help, some support and I turned to my husband.

My husband, the love of my life, my savior, my soulmate….. ‘Why are you not saying anything? Say something to Renne‘.

Hubby – ‘What can I say? I don’t want to come between you two. I can’t fight with him.‘ :O

Arghh!!!

See, he gave up, so easily.

Renne won.

My Hubby is not going to fight for me.

Till movie last, he was holding my hand, as if I could have run away. He didn’t even let me go pee. Thank God! He is my son and not a possessive boyfriend/husband.

God, save the girl, he is going to marry some day.

Coming to my husband, he slept on the couch that day.

Has Showing Off of Gifts, Taken Over The Spirit Of Christmas?

Has Showing Off of Gifts, Taken Over The Spirit Of Christmas?

Christmas is over and what a Christmas it was!! Glitz and glitter everywhere. Every house and every tree shimmering in beautiful colorful lights. Holiday songs playing on radio and television. Everybody shopping for gifts and every store outdoing itself in throwing holiday deals.

Christmas was in the air. Everywhere. 🙂

Has Showing Off of Gifts, Taken Over The Spirit Of Christmas?

Except, on social networking platforms, where war of word is going on about the showing off of Christmas Gifts.

Big Question is – If we should post the picture of Gifts that we have given to our kids for Christmas?

Has Showing Off of Gifts, Taken Over The Spirit Of Christmas?

Some argue, that this is a way of showing off of how much you can afford? How much you can spend on your gifts? How expensive your gifts are and how many of them you have bought?

Would it be called bragging, if you are posting a picture of your Kid with 10 gifts under Christmas tree for him?

Has Showing Off of Gifts, Taken Over The Spirit Of Christmas?

Every parent wants to give their child the very best of the world, but not every parent can afford a new Tablet/Phone, or a brand new Video Game. Does that mean, that they love their kids any less? Or, should their kids feel less blessed this Christmas?

But, there is also another viewpoint. The perspective that it is a festive season, and holidays are for pampering your kids and loved ones with toys and gifts of expensive nature. If not now then when? You would love to have your kid to have that brand new video game this Christmas, if this is what he was longing for. So what’s wrong with that? If you want to post a picture of your elated kid with his Gifts, then what is wrong with kid? Everyone wants to see a Happy Child.

As they say, to each his own. In this case too, it depends on what are you trying to convey to the world and to your kid too. Ultimately, Christmas is the festival celebrating birth of Jesus, who has given everything for the less fortunate ones.

It is a festival of giving. Let us teach our kids importance of giving, along with rejoicing the joys of receiving.

On that note Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!!
