First Day Of School

First Day Of School
Tisha’s First Day Of School

Today was Tisha’s first day of School. For me, it was more hectic than any of my days in schools or college.

I have never thought that picking up a school for your little one can be such a tedious task. But, what do I have to worry about when I have a husband who makes his decisions in seconds. So, one day he just told me that he saw a school for Tisha and he liked it, maybe we should opt for it. Only if I have a time saving mind! But, no, I decided to search by myself and talk to all the schools available in my area.

Poor me! I went through all the schools, calling them, talking to them, taking appointments for visit, prioritizing them, rating them. After finishing this whole school finding project, I submitted my research to the one and only, my dearest hubby.

It didn’t go to waste, at least I thought so, until he put the enrollment papers in my hand. Yes, papers of admission for the first school that he has picked up. :@

Not bad.

Bad was, when he told me that Tisha has to start from the very next day. What??

So soon. She is so little. How will I manage all? What clothes she will wear? Her lunch, she will eat there or not? What if she wants to do pee pee, and she was not able to say it in time? Or what if she wants to poop? What if she will miss me there? How will she manage on her own?

Ohhhh…..

All of this was going on in my mind at 4 in the morning. I couldn’t sleep. My hubby too. Both of us were laughing in the morning thinking how miserable we are? What will happen when she will go to college? or her first job? or Marriage?

But, hectic part was just about to begin. Getting her ready for the school.

I picked out the clothes, it just took me 15 minutes to match her shirt to pants. Selected a jacket, her hairband and her shoes. After another 20 minutes, her Papa has made me change her jacket, shoes and hairband too. We did argued on jacket, he wanted white one, I finalized a black one. Dress up done. Lunch packed. Some mentoring done. All done.

She was waving bye byes and blowing kisses, and there we were, crying. Next big challenge was to spend the time waiting. You can never understand what all was going on in my mind, when she was away. Who invented kids? Why do we have to be so worried all the time when we are not with them? Why do we have to worry so much?

Time passed, and she was back all thrilled and excited. Full of energy. She was telling about her big day, with lots of cheers and laughs in between. she was all happy, I was too. Just crying inside, to see my little mermaid all grown up.

Kids, Please don’t grow up so fast. Take your time. Lots of Time.

What My Kids Want From Me?

What My Kids Want From Me?
What My Kids Want From Me?

I was watching “Everybody Loves Raymond” (yeah, I still watch the reruns), lying leisurely on my couch. When abruptly my daughter Tisha declared “Mamma, I want something”. Something as in something to eat.

Boy! There is nothing more terrifying than this ‘something’ word. Something means they are not sure what they want to eat. Off course, they don’t want a proper food food. So you have to go through the whole charades of showing them everything you have, and asking them one by one, if they would like to eat that. Most tiring thing is you will always hear no, till the time you feel like crashing on the floor.

Having no other option I asked –

Me: you want egg?

Tisha: No.

Me: Chicken?

Tisha: No

Me: Biscuits?

Tisha: Noooooo

Thankfully, Otu (My 2 yr old son) came to my rescue.

Otu: Grapes. Mamma, grapes.

Grapes given to them. I came back again to my dearest couch and resumed the show. When….

Otu: Mamma, plate.

So, now they want grapes in separate plates. Given. Few seconds passed, I sat and….

Otu: Mamma, spoon.

Now, who eat grapes with a spoon? Well, looks like my aristocrat son Otu does.

Spoon given.

One minute passed.

 Otu: Mamma, hanky.

Even when he is eating grapes, that too with a spoon, he somehow managed to get his hands dirty. :O

Wearily, I said “Go ask your Papa. Why didn’t you guys go to him? He is also sitting here. Call him.”

BTW he (my hubby) was also there, just sitting quietly with his laptop, doing nothing. As always. Giving me ‘The Look‘ on hearing his name.

Otu: (again) No. Mamma, I want hanky.

Given. Sigh….

Me to hubby: Why can’t they ask you for everything and leave me, at least for 5 minutes? Why don’t they come to you?

Hubby: because, you are lucky. 😛

(He meant it sarcastically, believe me.)

I started thinking, was I like that with my mother? I remembered my mom saying to me umpteen times, how I have never let her sit for a moment. How I was always calling her for my every little needs. I didn’t went to my Papa, even when I wanted something from him. I always went to my Mamma first and then she used to take my case forward to Papa. I was not scared of him, he is not at all scary :). It was just that I always believed my Mamma understand what I want much better than anyone else. She was my first person.

Back to my lucky phase, my kids. I realized, how they come to me for their tiniest needs. When they are hurt, or happy, or just showing off. They will scream Mamma, and suddenly it will be the only thing that would matter to them, to get the desired reaction from their Mamma. To see, how she kisses their fake wounds and heal them, or to see how she laughs with them, or admire them each time they learn something new. I realized how much it meant to me, that they are calling me first, and not their Papa or to say anyone else in this whole world. Just me. I am the most valuable parson of their life. I am their first person.

I am lucky. 🙂

And, what do they want from me? Well, Everything.

Cutest Bye Bye

Cutest Bye Bye
Cutest Bye Bye

Do you say Bye when you leave for the market or gym?

You may or may not be doing it everyday and to everyone. But, I am sure of one thing you would not be doing. Saying bye to your home.

My kids, do that. So, whenever they leave their home they say bye bye to everyone and everything that is left behind, like our home. And this they do every time, even when they are going away just for few minutes. Sweet right?

Yesterday, while going to gym I heard the cutest bye bye from them.

When we were leaving I heard Tisha saying – “Bye bye Home. No crying, okay. I will come. I love you. Okay. Bye. I will come soon.

Lucky Home 🙂

Then Otu also joined her and they both sing bye bye to everything, yes everything.

Bye bye car (to the other parked cars), bye bye tree, bye bye dogie (dog), bye chair, bye bye ball…..”.

Guess, my home is blessed with kids having Love for everyone and everything. 🙂

A Three Minute Cake for My Sweetie

A Three Minute Cake for My Sweetie

My baby Tisha turned three, and all that she was bothered about, was her birthday Cake. So, we booked a Tinkerbell Cake for her Birthday party, which was on Saturday. Big Problem : Her birthday was on Friday, 27th December.

We wished her, pampered her in every possible way on Friday, but she was still not in the Birthday mood. We took her to an animated movie, got new clothes for her, gave all the attention that she deserved on her special day. Still, she was like “No, It’s no Birthday”.

What’s a birthday, without a cake? She was right. So, I decided to bake a small cake for her. Small because in my family no one seems to have a sweet tooth. We don’t like eating cakes. Even my kids don’t like eating sweets much. All that Tisha wanted on her birthday was to cut the cake, not to eat it.  😦

I have baked cakes before, but this time I wanted to try something which is quick and easy to make, taste doesn’t matter. (I am not gonna eat it, so why does it should matter 🙂 ). I was going through all the cake recipes, when I stumbled on this easy to make 3 minute chocolate mug cake. Voila!!!!

Recipe is down below.

Ingredients:

All Purpose Flour (Maida) – 4 tbsp

Sugar – 2 tbsp

Cocoa Powder – 2 tbsp

Egg – 1

Milk – 3 tbsp

Butter/Oil – 3 tbsp

Vanilla Extract – ¼ tbsp

Choco Chips – 1tbsp (I was out of them, so didn’t use)

Method:

Add and mix all the dry ingredients.

To this add Egg and mix really well.

Pour in milk and oil as well to make it smooth.

Make sure there are no lumps.

Add Choco chips and vanilla extract. Mix well.

Put this mixture in a Microwave safe Mug. (I have used a bowl, to have a small cake shape)

Microwave it for three minutes on high.

And done. 🙂

I used some M&Ms and chocolate for decoration. All it took to make this cake was 5 minutes.

Some friends also joined in the small celebration and Tisha cut the cake happily. Icing on the cake, it was not bad in taste. Although, it was not as good as a cake baked in Oven for half an hour, but still it was a quick fix. Tasted okay, looked more than okay. Happy Ending. 🙂

Anyone Up for a Late Night Tea Party?

Late Night Tea Party
Late Night Tea Party With Tisha, Otu and Renne

Nights are always pleasant. It’s the only time when there is quiet in our home, silence, everywhere. Having three toddlers, I can vouch that there is nothing like a peaceful and quiet home. But, only if it’s for a short time, else, I will go crazy in that silence. It’s their giggling, which make my home lively 🙂

My babies have very good sleeping habits.(Don’t Jinx it) They can’t help it, it’s kind of enforced on them. By me. 🙂 No Joking. I believe that it’s an integral part of their development to have a proper sleep schedule. But kids are kids, and they are smart enough to know when they can break the rules.

So, a few nights back, I took my kids to their room for sleep. Otu, my two year old boy, was as usual saying “NO” to top of his lungs. Tisha, my three old girl, cutie pie is now intelligent enough to understand the sleeping time, so she, very convincingly, went to sleep on her bed. Renne, twin to Otu, did some fake crying, but like Tisha, knew that there is no other option, goes to sleep too. Finally, after some coaxing, Otu also went to the bed. After a while, when I was sure they are fast asleep(Me Idiot), I came back to my room. So foolish of me. 😦

Some ten to fifteen minutes passed and I heard noises coming from the living room. I do believe in ghosts, but this time I knew poor ghosts are not behind these slow murmurings. It was Otu with Tisha, yes my sweet little angel daughter, who was pretending to sleep sometime back. First thought that came to my mind was to go there and again take them to sleep. But, then I thought, there is nothing to do for them in night, so they will be bored in few minutes and probably will go to sleep on their own. Also, they must be tired, really tired after playing all day.

But, God I was wrong, so wrong. 😦

Some time passed, and then, they were not even whispering. They were cheering and giggling, must be thinking that their mamma is asleep and they have the whole house to themselves. I was listening to them. Making all the noises in kitchen and living room, ransacking all the cupboards, throwing food packets, picking up plastic boxes, playing with plastic cups and mugs. (all the cupboards within their reach have only plastic stuff, good thinking on my part). It was like a late night party going on in my kitchen, only I was not invited. 😦

After a while, Tisha came by my side to sleep, must be tired. I was still pretending to sleep. And here came Otu, calling her back “Di, come on”. “Di, Di” (He calls her Didi or Di sometimes). Tisha must have got her energy back, jumped on hearing that little voice saying “Come On”, and rushed back to Otu.

Again my kitchen and living room were going through all the ruckus. This goes on for a while, to be precise for more than half an hour. They were still not tired enough to sleep, and here I was about to move to dreamland. Finally, I decided to go back and restore the peace back to the universe. I put on the lights, and there it was, all the sofa cushions on floor, lying around the center table in a circular fashion. Tisha and Otu sitting on them at opposite side of the table, having a tea party with all my coffee mugs on the table. Rest all my kitchen pots were on the kitchen floor, with some of their stuffed animals. As if teddy bears, monkeys and puppies were having a party of their own. 😦

What was the first reaction of Tisha and Otu, when they saw me? Nothing. Blank. And then they gave me their silly mischievous smile. I started laughing. They laughed and we all had a small tea party. 🙂

So, next time you want to have some tea at the middle of the night, and don’t know where to go? You are invited, just bring along some new tea cups.

Point to note, all this time my husband was sleeping peacefully, ignorant of whatever was going on. 🙂
